Organisational Support Manager (12 m FTC or secondment)
Gen 2 is currently recruiting an Organisational Support Manager to join our business here in Cumbria.
This role is available as maternity leave cover.
This is a client-facing position and an exciting opportunity for a candidate with previous experience working in a busy office environment in a team leadership role.
In this role, you will lead a small team and manage the recruitment of our learners/students.
You and your team will coordinate and manage the learner recruitment and induction process.
You will also oversee the sourcing and development of learner resources related to student services and recruitment. Additionally, you will contribute to student engagement, promotion, and communication activities and events (e.g. careers or open evenings, notice boards).
The role will be primarily based in Workington; however, the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to our sites in Ulverston and Carlisle, so a full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Gen2 was established in 2000 and specialises in the Engineering, Nuclear, and Manufacturing sectors. In May 2017 Gen2 joined City & Guilds and became a City & Guilds business.
Gen2 is based in a picturesque Cumbria and has been recently awarded Ofsted Good in all areas.

About the role
What you will be doing:
- Managing the support of prospective and current students is a key duty of this role and you and the team can expect to be amongst the first member of staff to be approached by learners.
- To provide an effective wellbeing and support service and where necessary involve other departments/services, escalating as needed.
- Coordinate and manage the learner recruitment and induction process through the Recruitment and Student Services team
- Manage the sourcing and development of learner resources related to student services and recruitment.
- Contribute to student engagement, promotion and communication activities and events e.g. careers/open evenings, notice boards
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver information, advice and guidance.
- Working closely with Centre Managers and the Facilities Manager to ensure that business support is resourced and managed.
- Manage and coordinate projects and resources in relation to organisational support.
- Produce, maintain and report on KPI’s, performance targets and evaluations/Learning from Experience to promote continuous improvement.
- Represent Gen2 as appropriate and build/maintain good relationships with stakeholders
- Have oversight and contribute to process and systems improvement activity undertaken by the Lead Recruitment and Student Services Officer.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times and ensure compliance with information security requirements e.g. GDPR
- Ensuring you and the team maintains own CPD, keeping up to date with changes to best practise related to support services, learner recruitment and student services.
- Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure information is shared and followed up on.
About you

- IAG Level 4 or willingness to work towards the qualification
- Experienced in working in a busy office environment
- Good IT skills and experience of utilising electronic systems
- Good time management, planning and organisation skills.
- Experienced in managing and motivating individual staff to develop a high performing team
- Strong relationship management skills including with those seeking help
- Strong administrative and organisation skills with great attention to detail.
- Excellent numeracy, communication and presentation skills - both written and verbal.
- A self-starter, able to manage a variety of projects and resources independently
- The ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
- Experienced in producing and presenting performance targets/indicators
- Proven experience in recruitment practices e.g. interviewing
- Excellent relationship management skills including with those seeking help
- A high level of confidentiality and integrity
- A passion for supporting people
- Experienced in prioritising, planning and co-ordinating the work of self and others
- A commitment to providing inclusive and accessible services to all students
- Excellent customer service skills
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training related to wellbeing and support
