Governance Lead (Awarding Organisation)

We are seeking an experienced Governance Lead to oversee the Awarding Organisation's governance model and approach. 

This role is instrumental in ensuring the successful operation of the governance framework for our Awarding Organisation. 

Ideal candidates will be experienced in governance matters, with the ability to provide practical support and advice to the executive team, directors and our broader leadership team ensuring that the model runs efficiently and that information flows through the organisation and is fully understood.  

You can be based anywhere across the UK for this role but you must be willing to travel to the London office (EC1) to attend meetings with the team. 

This appointment will be made on merit.

About the role

As the Governance Lead, you will develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies and procedures that align to our regulatory standards and approaches whilst serving as the primary point of contact for the Executive and Senior Leadership team on governance matters that relate to the Awarding Organisation.

You will provide expert guidance and support, manage board meetings including agenda preparation and ensure timely dissemination of information to board members. You will proactively conduct regular reviews and assessments of government practices, identifying areas of improvement and implementation of corrective measures. 

Additionally you will develop and deliver training programmes for staff, board members and other stakeholders on governance approaches, principles and compliance requirements whilst promoting a culture of compliance, ethical behaviour and integrity.  

About you

You application must demonstrate experience of managing a governance function that includes oversight of secretarial resource that includes committees, projects, risk management and internal audits. You will also need in depth knowledge of corporate governance principles, regulations and best practices to provide expert advice to our senior stakeholders.

You will naturally need an analytical mindset, with the ability to analyse complex corporate and business issues as well as experience of delivering a high quality customer focused governance support to boards and committees. You will also require experience of drafting communications, reports and updates for a broad audience range as well as the ability to manage relationships and engagements with senior stakeholders across the business.
