Then this may be the job for you! We have a vacancy for a Technical Data Administrator (Data Management).

The role involves a range of tasks including solving technical problems, in a 2nd line capacity, that we encounter day to day. So there is a lot to learn to get to expert level. But also, there is scope to bring your strengths and skills on how to problem solve and continuously improve. We are open to fresh ideas!

This is a hybrid role where you will be working both from home and our Burntwood office. 

We will usually require you to be at the office approx. twice per week but this may change and be flexible and depend on both training and business needs.

The role is based in the Data Management team in the Fulfilment function of Operations and Programmes.

About the role:  

What is involved? 

  1. The primary responsibility of the team is handling 2nd line queries for our customers and internal departments. This usually concerns issues around our registrations and certificates which our customer services team are unable to handle. So, in depth understanding is required, training provided of course, in order to reveal, possibly resolve and then explain back or onwards to another contact where required. 

  1. We are a pivotal team in the delivery of examination results for our Technicals and exciting new T Levels qualifications which demand both technical skills and the ability to quickly adapt and respond to new challenges and incidents as they occur. 

  1. The role also involves a significant amount of data manipulation, primarily in Excel with skills at intermediate to advanced levels. So you ought to be comfortable at running features like pivot tables and ‘vlookup’ functions. 

  1. We also conduct system checks on key essential processes, acting as early warning where problems are detected. 

  1. System testing, usually where changes are being applied, is a routine requirement. 

  1. Data Management hold responsibility to continually tackle and reduce error occurrence from our processes and systems. So ‘peeling back the layers’ behind the obvious issue at hand to get at the heart and root cause is a daily requirement.

Key skills and attributes include; 

  

  • The team is relatively small, so flexibility is critical to its success. Moving to cover tasks at short notice is part of what we do, day to day! For a lot of people this will be what makes the job diverse and exciting. 

  • You will need to be good technically with managing data - Not at an expert level but competent at taking a spreadsheet, as a typical example, eliminating unnecessary data and manipulating what you are interested in to see the picture required. And sharing that info/intelligence with clarity. 

  • Having a passion for tackling where things are going wrong or not working is a key role attribute. So not just fixing what is broken but getting to the heart and root cause.
